Drinks at the Memorial Day Event

Wesley Chapel's go-to outdoor destination is hosting a full-day patriotic celebration this Memorial Day weekend — and it's bringing live music, family activities, and community spirit all under one roof.

A Memorial Day Event With Real Meaning

The Shops at Wiregrass is marking Memorial Day weekend with one of the most ambitious community events it has hosted this year. The Great American Block Party takes place on Saturday, May 23, and serves a dual purpose — honoring the men and women who have served in the U.S. military while celebrating America 250, the nationwide commemoration of the country's 250th anniversary.

Organizers have been clear that this isn't just a reason to have fun on a holiday weekend. The event is designed to bring the community together in a spirit of genuine reflection and gratitude, acknowledging the sacrifices that have made American freedoms possible while giving families a memorable way to spend the day together.

What's Happening Throughout the Day

Daytime festivities run from 3 to 7 p.m. and spread across the property, with the newly renovated Center Court serving as the main hub of activity. The programming is built with families in mind — yard games, a pop-up putt-putt course, chalk art experiences, and a live DJ hosting games and giveaways throughout the afternoon. A vintage and antique car display adds a classic Americana element that ties in naturally with the patriotic theme of the day.

The variety of activities means there's genuinely something for every age group. Whether you're bringing young kids, spending the afternoon with teenagers, or simply looking for a laid-back way to enjoy the holiday weekend with neighbors, the block party covers all the bases.

Evening Concert: Homegrown Performs Live

As the afternoon winds down, the event shifts into concert mode. From 7 to 9 p.m., the Center Court lawn hosts a live performance by Homegrown, one of the region's premier Zac Brown Band tribute acts. Known for delivering high-energy sets that capture the spirit of the original band's catalog, Homegrown is a genuinely entertaining live act that draws crowds of its own — making this a concert worth sticking around for even if you weren't planning to stay the whole day.

The outdoor concert under the Florida sky is the kind of experience that defines a great Memorial Day weekend — easy, communal, and memorable in the best possible way.

Plan Your Visit

The Shops at Wiregrass is located at the intersection of State Road 56 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in Wesley Chapel — one of the most accessible destinations in Pasco County, with ample parking and a pedestrian-friendly layout that makes it easy to move between activities. The center's pet-friendly and sip-and-stroll policies are in effect, so feel free to bring the dog and grab a drink as you explore.

No ticket is required for the daytime festivities. Come early, explore the shops and restaurants, and stay for the concert to make the most of the day.
