Pasco County Hurricane Recovery Money Is Still Available — Up to $75,000 for Eligible Wesley Chapel Homeowners

WESLEY CHAPEL / PASCO COUNTY, FL — If your home was damaged by Hurricanes Idalia, Helene, or Milton and you haven't applied for Pasco County's federal recovery program yet, there is still hurricane recovery money available — but program staff say residents need to move fast before funding runs out.

Pasco County's Better Future Individual Housing Program provides financial assistance to homeowners to repair, rebuild, or replace homes damaged by Hurricanes Idalia, Helene, and Milton — funded through a nearly $586 million federal Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Eligible homeowners can receive up to $75,000 to cover storm damage repairs that weren't fully covered by insurance or FEMA assistance.

Who Qualifies

Income eligibility was expanded in March 2026, raising the threshold to 120% of Area Median Income — meaning a family of four earning up to approximately $125,000 per year may now qualify for assistance. Priority is given to households at 80% or below AMI, with extra priority for very low income applicants — but anyone with storm damage is urged to check their eligibility regardless of income level.

To qualify, you must:

  • Own and have occupied your home during the storm event

  • Have sustained hurricane damage from Idalia (2023), Helene (2024), or Milton (2024)

  • Meet income guidelines based on household size

  • Have unmet needs not covered by insurance, FEMA, or other assistance

How to Apply

Residents can start an application online through the Neighborly portal, and those who need help can get one-on-one assistance by phone through the Pasco County Office of Disaster Recovery and Resources. County staff have also held bilingual webinars to walk residents through the process step by step.

Why Many Residents Haven't Applied Yet

Program staff say a significant number of eligible Pasco County homeowners simply don't know this money exists or assume they don't qualify. If you suffered hurricane damage and haven't looked into this program, the few minutes it takes to check eligibility could be worth tens of thousands of dollars.
