WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — Wesley Chapel's classrooms are bursting at the seams, and Pasco County Schools is moving fast to catch up. Two brand-new campuses are now in active planning — a medical magnet high school in Meadow Pointe and a K-8 campus near the Two Rivers development — both targeting a Fall 2028 opening.
Wiregrass Ranch High School was operating at 143% capacity as of October 2025. Wesley Chapel High was at 134%. Those numbers pushed Superintendent John Legg to accelerate the construction timeline by two years — because the area is growing faster than anyone anticipated.
Medical Magnet High School — Meadow Pointe
The new high school will sit on 70 district-owned acres along State Road 54, near the Country Walk subdivision — right between Wiregrass Ranch High and Wesley Chapel High. Because of its location between two existing schools, it won't use traditional rezoning. Instead, students from across the district will apply through the Pasco Pathways lottery.
The medical focus isn't just a theme — it's a full curriculum track with potential career-training partnerships with AdventHealth. Unlike some previous magnet schools, this campus will also include complete athletic facilities: a track and football/soccer field.
Two Rivers K-8 Campus
The Two Rivers K-8 school will be built on a 35.83-acre site north of SR-56, between Gall Blvd. and Morris Bridge Road, purchased by the district in October 2024 for $8.15 million. The campus is designed for approximately 2,000 students and will include full core facilities and outdoor athletic amenities. Site plans have been submitted and the project is in the permitting and design phase. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026.
Why It Matters
• Total estimated cost for the K-8 campus: approximately $93.4 million
• Both schools expected to open Fall 2028
• 4,000+ additional students projected from new housing developments in the area
• More capacity means less overcrowding and shorter commutes for east Pasco families
