A Brand-New Publix Is Coming to Wiregrass Ranch — And It's Not Your Average Grocery Store

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — The long-anticipated Publix at Wiregrass Commons has officially cleared its final hurdle. Building permits were issued on December 24, 2025, paving the way for construction to begin on what will be one of the most feature-packed Publix locations in the area.

Where and What

The new store — officially Publix #1504 — will anchor Wiregrass Commons, a new shopping center at the busy intersection of SR-54 and Wiregrass Ranch Blvd., directly across from the Walmart Supercenter. The store spans nearly 49,000 square feet and includes a 2,100-square-foot Publix Liquors section.

What makes this one stand out:

• A "Pours" bar serving coffee, wine, beer, and kombucha on tap

• Olive bar, acai bowls, smoothies, and expanded grab-and-go options

• Hot food buffet, enhanced bakery, and a drive-thru pharmacy

• Part of Publix's newer "prototype" format — already a hit at the Innovation Springs location on Overpass Road

What About the Existing Hollybrook Publix?

The Hollybrook Plaza Publix — Wesley Chapel's original location — recently underwent renovations and is not confirmed to be closing. Two Publix stores less than a half-mile apart is unusual, but both are expected to remain open, at least for now.

Timeline

With permits secured, construction is expected to begin in the near term. Developer data from Crossman & Company shows an estimated delivery of Q3 2027. So while the opening is still a ways off, the groundwork is happening now.
