Johns Hopkins All Children's Just Topped Out Its $300 Million Wesley Chapel Hospital — And This Isn't Just a Satellite Campus

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — Wesley Chapel's third hospital just cleared one of the biggest milestones in construction: crews officially topped out Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital on May 8, marking the placement of the final steel beam atop the five-story structure at 29999 Boyette Road.
What's Actually Being Built
This is no small satellite clinic — it's a full 239,000-square-foot pediatric hospital, and the first one Johns Hopkins All Children's has ever built outside of St. Petersburg. When it opens, the campus will include:
56 inpatient beds
A 16-room emergency center
4 operating rooms and 4 imaging rooms
A 12-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit
A full-service pharmacy and sleep laboratory
A 25,000-square-foot outpatient center with 36 rooms
"All Kids, All the Time"
Unlike a general hospital that treats children as an afterthought, this facility is built exclusively around pediatric care. "Being a free-standing hospital, everybody here wants to be here," said Dr. Wassam Rahman, a pediatric emergency medicine physician, during a hard-hat tour. "It's not, 'I'm taking care of adults and I'll do the kids.' No, it's all kids all the time."
Why It Matters for Wesley Chapel
Right now, 93% of families in Citrus, Hernando, and Pasco counties have to leave the area for specialized pediatric care. With the pediatric population in this corridor projected to grow 12% by 2032, this $300 million project — led by general contractor Robins & Morton and architect HKS — is designed to change that math permanently.
