Finding good vegan food can be a challenge, and a container park known for burgers, wings, and burritos is the last place you'd expect to find it. But at KRATE at the Grove, Green Table is exactly that — an oasis for the meat-averse.

WESLEY CHAPEL — Finding good vegan food can be a challenge, and a container park known for burgers, wings, and burritos is the last place you'd expect to find it. But at KRATE at the Grove, Green Table is exactly that — an oasis for the meat-averse.

The Story Behind It

Owner Edson Benzan-Monteiro recently opened the restaurant in the former Shake-A-Salad space, bringing a streamlined, plant-based menu to vegans, vegetarians, and anyone looking for a healthier meal. Benzan-Monteiro adopted a plant-based diet eight years ago to improve his health — a decision that snowballed into something bigger. "Once I went down the rabbit hole of nutrition and veganism, I started realizing the impact that it had on the environment, on the animals and on human beings," he said.

After discovering the original Green Table food truck in Brandon, Benzan-Monteiro and his partner, Vanessa, bought into the business and brought it home to Wesley Chapel, inspired in part by a trip to New York where vegan food seemed to be on every corner. "This gives the vegan community another option other than the four or five that is spread out throughout the greater Tampa Bay area," he said.

What to Order

The menu features a gyro made with seitan — a wheat-gluten protein also used in Cuban and Philly sandwiches — wrapped in pita with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and house-made tzatziki, packing roughly 40 grams of protein per serving.

Burgers use Impossible Burger patties, while chicken sandwiches blend pea protein and seitan. A Reuben with grilled tempeh on marble rye rounds out the specialty sandwiches, alongside crisp fries, cauliflower wings (Buffalo or barbecue), salads, and shakes made with oat milk — including a standout Biscotti shake.

Why It's Worth Trying

Benzan-Monteiro isn't looking to convert anyone to veganism — but for a curious carnivore or committed vegan alike, Green Table offers a genuinely satisfying alternative to the container park's usual indulgent fare.
