Pasco County Schools Expands K-8 Model to 6 Campuses as Wesley Chapel Parents Embrace the Approach

WESLEY CHAPEL — Pasco County Schools is growing its K-8 model this year, and Wesley Chapel families say the approach is paying off.

The district now has six K-8 campuses total, with two brand-new ones opening this year:

• Pasco K-8 on the east side

• Paul R. Smith K-8 on the west side

Those join Skybrooke K-8, which opened last year in Lutz, and Kirkland Ranch K-8, which opened the year before in Wesley Chapel.

Why the District Is Expanding the Model

Superintendent John Legg says each side of the county has different needs driving the expansion, and the K-8 format is designed to give students more consistency as they grow.

What Wesley Chapel Families Are Saying

Parents at Kirkland Ranch K-8 point to the model's continuity and care as a big reason it's worked for their kids. With two more K-8 schools now open elsewhere in the district, Kirkland Ranch families are hoping the same benefits reach even more students across Pasco County.
