Wesley Chapel's New Fire Station Opens Friday, Cutting Response Times Roughly in Half

WESLEY CHAPEL — Wesley Chapel is getting a new fire station this week, and it's expected to make a big difference in how fast help arrives.

Fire Station 2 officially opens with a grand opening celebration on Friday, Aug. 14. County officials say the new facility will cut emergency response times in the area roughly in half.

Why This Station Was Needed

Before Station 2, Wesley Chapel relied on three more distant stations to cover the area:

• Station 13 on Old Pasco Road

• Station 26 on Aronwood Boulevard in Meadow Pointe

• Station 38 on Overpass Road in Watergrass

That coverage gap grew more strained as Pasco County's population surged 22% between 2020 and 2026, a pace of residential growth that outstripped the county's older public safety infrastructure in suburban Wesley Chapel.

What's Inside the New Station

The 13,840-square-foot building is stocked to handle that growth head-on:

• Three dedicated emergency response units — Engine 2, Rescue 2, and Investigator 2

• Three drive-through apparatus bays

• Modern firefighter health zones that separate contaminated "hot" gear areas from "cool" living spaces, a design choice aimed at reducing firefighter cancer risk

Part of a Bigger Countywide Buildout

Station 2 is just one piece of a larger, multi-year expansion across Pasco County. The department is also:

• Constructing a new Station 4 in Odessa, expected to open in fall 2027

• Replacing Station 1 at the Public Safety Campus in Land O' Lakes, targeted for winter 2026

The department's expanding footprint is already paying off beyond county lines — beginning Oct. 1, Hillsborough County will pay Pasco County Fire Rescue $250,000 annually to respond to emergency calls in northern border communities like New Tampa.
