Rivian Is Filing Plans for a 52,000-Square-Foot Service Center in Wesley Chapel — No More Driving to Tampa

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — Wesley Chapel's growing community of electric vehicle owners just got some very good news. Site plans submitted this week put an electric-vehicle service center on a Grand Cypress Drive outparcel at the Cypress Creek retail node, which would give Wesley Chapel-area Rivian owners a local alternative to driving to Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa.

The proposed facility is 51,965 square feet — about half the size of the full-scale Home Depot proposed a short distance away in the same retail node. For context, that's a significant footprint — large enough to accommodate multiple service bays, parts storage, and full customer-facing space under one roof.

Where It's Going 

Grand Cypress Drive is the loop road that serves Tampa Premium Outlets at 2300 Grand Cypress Dr. Cypress Creek Town Center sits alongside it, and Total Wine took over the former Earth Fare space at 25535 Sierra Center Blvd. in that center. The Rivian service center would join a commercial cluster that already includes Tampa Premium Outlets, Costco, PopStroke, Academy Sports + Outdoors, and a pipeline of new retailers including the planned Home Depot — making it one of the most active commercial corners in all of Wesley Chapel.

Why Rivian Is Expanding Now 

Rivian has been actively scaling its service infrastructure across the country ahead of the anticipated launch of the R2 — its smaller, more affordable SUV that is expected to significantly expand the brand's customer base. More Rivian owners on the road means more demand for local service capacity — and Wesley Chapel, with its high household incomes and growing tech-savvy population, is exactly the kind of market Rivian is targeting.

What It Means for Wesley Chapel EV Owners 

Right now, the nearest Rivian service and demo center is on Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa — a 40-minute round trip for Wesley Chapel residents just to drop off a vehicle for service. A full-scale service center at Grand Cypress Drive cuts that to minutes and removes one of the most common friction points for EV ownership: finding convenient, local service.

What's Next 

Site plans have been filed — not yet approved. The Wesley Chapel Community Website will report review milestones as the application moves through the county process, including any changes to the building footprint or access points onto Grand Cypress Drive.
